Michael “Trouble” Turner is an aspiring saxophonist whose phenomenal, awe-inspiring gift, manifested through his sheer expression and exhilarating performance is so moving that it captivates diverse audiences everywhere. His style typically embodies contemporary, smooth jazz, and rhythm and blues; yet, he is astute in many other genres of music. Throughout his lifetime, he has acquired education, accolades, and experiences that have shaped him into the exceptional artist he is today.
A native of Illinois, Michael grew up on Chicago’s Westside.   Upon entering his sophomore year at Chicago Vocational High School, Michael chose to play the alto saxophone, or, perhaps, through divine intervention, the alto saxophone chose him.  Although he did not have the luxury of receiving a private tutor, he practiced fervently in his beginner band class and cultivated his gift.  The following year he ranked first chair in the All City Jazz Band.  Upon graduation, he received acceptance letters from several universities, and he selected Grambling State University (G.S.U.) home of the legendary Coach Eddie G. Robinson, college football coach with the most wins. While at G.S.U., Michael majored in Music Performance with a minor in Music Education and performed with the World Famed G.S.U. Tiger Marching Band.  During this time, Michael endearingly received the nickname “Trouble” because he frequently played practical jokes on his peers.
After college, Michael returned to his roots in Chicago and toured extensively, nationwide and abroad, with the recently inducted Blues Hall of Famer, Otis Clay.  Years later, Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corp Second Division Band at Camp LeJune, North Carolina, where he held first chair in the concert, marching, and jazz combo.
Currently, Michael tours the world as the saxophonist for the legendary American Funk and R&B Band, the Ohio Players.  Michael also started his very own Michael Turner Band, a contemporary, smooth jazz, and R&B group.  To view Michael performing “Outstanding,” Just click on the link -> LIVE MICHAEL TURNER PERFORMANCE
Throughout his career, Michael has toured in Brazil, Germany, and Canada and has made many special performances and appearances that include the WGN Morning Show, the Norwegian, Carnival, and Holland Cruise Lines, the Chicago Bulls games, and a Michael Jackson Tribute in Gary, Indiana.
Michael feels that the most admirable quality of his stage performance is that it reflects the heart-felt, genuine passion that he has for music and the love and appreciation he has for his fans.
